Designed by Louis Blériot and Raymond Saulnier, the Blériot XI was a light and sleek monoplane made of oak and poplar wood. The flying surfaces were covered with fabric. Blériot opted for a 25 hp Anzani 3-cylinder engine. The Blériot XI also featured some groundbreaking technologies, such as the trailing undercarriage, which allowed landings in crosswinds. The deformation of the wings controlled the aircraft's roll. The tail of the Blériot XI had a horizontal tailplane with elevator and a rudder, but no vertical tailplane. Unintentionally, Blériot added lateral stability to the aircraft by leaving the rear of the fuselage uncovered. This created enough drag to stabilise the aircraft's flight characteristics. The aircraft achieved immortality on 25 July 1909 when Louis Blériot crossed the English Channel from Calais to Dover in 36.30 minutes. The kit contains: Brass fittings and Laser-cut wood. Wingspan: 80 cm.
