Plastic model kit of a US WWII bomber. The role of the medium bomber proved to be one of the most important during World War II, and after a somewhat difficult introduction, the North American B-25 Mitchell developed into a highly successful aircraft. The B-25 was used in all theatres of operation and was the most versatile aircraft of its type, fulfilling a wide range of tactical roles in a variety of theatres of operation. Probably the most famous action involving the North American B-25 Mitchell took place shortly after 8am on 18 April 1942, when sixteen of the bombers lifted off the relatively short deck of the USS Hornet and set course for Japan. This bold and heroic attack on the heart of the Japanese Empire, which had attacked the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, illustrated the determination of the American people and the resolve of its armed forces to seek victory.... The early B-25B aircraft used in the Doolittle Raid performed well but had already been modernised. The later Model C/D (different letters were used to designate the manufacturer) proved to be the definitive version of this highly effective medium bomber and was the first truly mass-produced version of the aircraft. An extremely robust and versatile aircraft, the Mitchell was used as a submarine patrol aircraft off the coast of Florida and as a fighter-bomber in the deserts of North Africa, proving successful in both cases. Some of the later versions of the B-25 became the most heavily armed aircraft of the war, with no fewer than 18 machine guns and a range of other offensive weapons. With their massive bows housing 8 heavy guns, these aircraft were deadly gunships capable of destroying anything in their line of fire. 165 parts, length built 233 mm / width 286 mm / height 69.2 mm.
