Plastic model kit of a British WWII bomber. Undoubtedly the Mosquito's greatest feature was its speed, and although it was developed as a fast, unarmed bomber, the very fact that it could be faster than the fighter planes of the day made it an attractive proposition for the military tasked with gathering photographic intelligence on potential enemy targets. Interestingly, the second Mosquito prototype to begin construction was a photo-reconnaissance variant, and indeed the first Mosquito to enter service with the RAF was a PR Mosquito, such was the importance of this work to the British war effort. With their ability to fly higher, faster and longer, these latest reconnaissance Mosquitos could fly anywhere and see anything - and the Germans hated them. Special Luftwaffe units were set up specifically to combat the Mosquitos' reconnaissance flights, but it wasn't until the introduction of rocket- and jet-powered aircraft that they had any chance of success. Even then, however, Mosquito crews knew how to avoid interception and continued to bring home their important tactical images. 161 parts, length built 307 mm / width 263 mm / height 71.3 mm.
