With the F90, MAN released a completely new generation of trucks with a modern driver's cab in 1986. It replaced the previous F9 series. The F90 model series received the new generation of engines further developed from its predecessor. The top engine was now 460 hp, which initially gave MAN the peak performance of European road trucks, and later rose to 500 hp. The model range included different chassis lengths and axle configurations. In addition, there were numerous special bodies from third-party suppliers.
