The Fuchs company recognized early on the advantages of combining its crane and excavator superstructures with a truck chassis. The superstructures were mounted on Büssing, Mercedes, and even decommissioned US military trucks. The Mercedes round-cab truck, built from 1958 onward, was combined with the Fuchs F301 superstructure and offered as a truck-mounted slewing crane. The vehicle could be equipped as both a crane and an excavator.
