For SBB's Rail 2000 project, BBC and SLM produced four prototypes of a four-axle electric locomotive made of light steel. The locomotives, designated Re 4/4 IV by SBB, were intensively tested by SBB from 1982 onwards. With the 160 km/h fast locomotives, not only the new rectifier technology was tested, but also new colour schemes – so all four engines were painted differently. It was not until 1986 that the Re 4/4 IVs were given a uniform colour scheme in traffic red with the Bahn 2000 advertisement. From 1994, the Südostbahn (SOB) took over the locomotives listed as Re 446 and turned them into rolling billboards. With the introduction of the Stadler Flirt at the SOB in 2019, all Re 4/4 IVs were sold to EDG. Model: -Current consumption across all axes -Swiss light change -Prepared or including sound (Zimo Sound board) interface NEM 651 -Consideration of all design differences
