Brend observation tower Standard 2
A narrow, two-storey observation tower in natural stonework, external stairway in lower area and observation platform above.
The original tower stands in the neighbourhood of Guetenbach/Black Forest.
The chapter Furtwangen, one of the oldest sections of the Black Forest Association, celebrated its 100th birthday in 1992. Like a red thread, the »Brend-Tower« traverses through almost 100 years of association history.
In the year of foundation, the local mountain »Brend« carried only a refuge for animal shepherds and forest workers, the »Julius-Hut«. In spring of 1905 the tower construction was commenced and inauguration was celebrated on August 6. In 1982, another story was built onto the tower.
Even today it is a popular tourist attraction.
