The RAF aircraft featured a number of differences from their maritime counterparts and were designated S.Mk.2B. For an aircraft that the Royal Air Force did not actually want, the Buccaneer proved to be an exceptionally capable machine, and when it was due to be retired, they were reluctant to do so.
